Wormery

I recently acquired a can-o-worms wormery second hand. I've got a couple of books which seem to contradict one another re: bedding etc
Do any other members have a worm bin or have experience of keeping them? I sent for some worms from ebay, they arrived very quickly and lively (in fact they tried to escape as soon as I took the lid off!) and I'd like to do my best to ensure the little chaps (and girly worms) thrive.

Well, my little colony of wigglers seems to be surviving, but I'd still appreciate any advice from worm-keepers! I'm not sure how much to feed them and how to avoid fruit flies etc
